Want to get fit while in Toronto? Here’s where to go!

Besides cycling back and forth between your York U housing and class, you might find yourself in need of a fitness facility to ensure everything is in check. Exercise is crucial in a student’s life as it keeps your body and mind sharp and ready for all the activities that students engage in. With all the pressures that a student has to deal with, it is necessary to ensure that you release those feel-good hormones as often as you can. Luckily, there are plenty of fitness facilities in Toronto to choose from.

Goodlife Fitness (Liberty Village)

There are plenty of Goodlife facilities in Toronto, and the ones at Liberty Village and Yonge and Richmond are open 24 hours a day. Now you have no excuse not to work out regardless of your class schedule. Go to class in the morning and the gym at night, and everyone stays happy.

YMCA Cherry Street

This facility used to be a former training facility for the 2015 PanAM games. Right now it is a fully fledged fitness center with activities for the whole family, not to mention two pools, a fully equipped gym and even a running track and basketball court.

Equinox Fitness

This facility that has its origins in the US has everything you need when you want a break from your York University residence and its monotony. There are plenty of classes to choose from, smoothie bars when you need to replenish and eucalyptus-infused towels that are just perfect post-workout.

LA Fitness Toronto

Yet another US import, this facility has a basketball court, indoor pool, sauna and squash courts. If you are stressed about having to rent apartment near York U, stress no more. Just get yourself to Don Mills to this facility and sweat that stress away.

Adelaide Club

This gym is located on First Canadian Place and caters mainly to the professionals on Bay street. There is plenty to do and relax in this facility that comes complete with a juice bar lounge, screens, pool tables and multiple classes such as yoga, kickboxing, Karate and Pilates.

Miles Nadal JCC

This Jewish Community Centre offers different facilities including a salt water pool and even camps for kids during March break, Passover, winter break and the summer holidays. It is a great place to relax with the whole family.

Ultimate Athletics

If you’re looking to get some personal training, this small full-service gym is a great fit. You will also get to choose from an array of available classes such as spinning, boxing and other aerobic classes.

Totum

The upside to this gym is that besides offering personal training, there is also physio, chiropractic and RMT services on site. It’s like getting the best of both worlds. You get to work out, and then you get some chiropractic care done on the side. Two birds, one stone.

The Rosedale Club

This gym offers fitness facilities and personal training as well. Their change rooms are lavishly floored in marble and their juice bar will ensure you are well replenished after your work out.
