A Few Basics You’ll Need In Your Campus Dorm

As you head over to college, it’s important to carry with you the essential items you’ll need to make your transition process as smooth as possible. Turning your dorm room into your home for the next couple of months, or years, is not such an easy process. We’ll help you by listing a few items you need to bring along with you to the dorm.

Comfortable Bedding

You are likely to be required to bring along your own bedding. Pick some comfy sheets that will make you feel at home when you’re feeling homesickness. Don’t forget to carry some pillows and a comforter too. The dorm bed is likely not as comfortable as the bed you left back at home. You may want to add a foam mattress pad just to add that extra level of comfort.

Laundry Bags

It’s important to keep your room organized and laundry bags will help you to achieve this. Rather than throwing away your dirty clothes all over the place, get a laundry bag at your nearest department store. It’s going to be much easier when the time comes to do the laundry.

Supplies

Basic supplies like spoons, knives, can openers and plates may not be included. Make sure you put these items in your list. They’ll come in handy when you have a few friends over or you’ve bought some food and want to take it back to your room.

Entertainment

Dorm life can be pretty boring if you don’t have any source of entertainment. Carry your own entertainment in the form of a TV, radio, movies, video games and any other device that can keep you entertained. Bear in mind that this stuff can be distractive too. Make sure when it’s time to study, you have the discipline to switch them off.

Breakfast Bites

There’s a high chance you are going to miss out on a few breakfast meals especially on the days when you have early morning classes. Make sure you are armed with some breakfast foods which you can rely on to keep your stomach from rumbling during the morning class. A good idea would be to buy the powdered protein shakes which you simply mix with some water or milk and drink for breakfast.

Extra Electrical Outlets

You are likely going to need some extra electrical outlets to charge the phone, run the TV or radio in your dorm. Remember to carry with you some extension cords. You can also invest in the smart Wi-Fi plugs available in the market today.

Shower Supplies

You are likely not going to have a shower to yourself in the room. Since you are going to be using the shower down the hall, make sure you have something to carry your washing products. Also, get some flip-flops so that you don’t have to walk in the shower area bare foot.

A Small Bed-Side Table

This will come in handy if you have a small room and you need it to be a bit organized.
